Joint Programs MD/MPH or MD/MS At Dartmouth Medical School, students in the MD curriculum receive extensive training in the basic and clinical sciences. The Dartmouth Institute offers a one-year Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science (MS) degree program in conjunction with the four-year MD program. The Institute’s programs build upon a rigorous core curriculum that provides an understanding of the challenges facing the U.S. health care system and a firm grounding in the skills required to evaluate and improve public health and health care. In this five year joint program, third year medical students in good standing at DMS who apply to the MPH or MS program by the appropriate deadline will be admitted to the MPH or MS program for the following year. After completion of the one-year MPH or MS curriculum, DMS students return for their final year of medical school. MBA/MPH or MBA/MS The Tuck School of Business and the Dartmouth Institute offer a three-year program that combines the rigorous business and management training at Tuck with extensive coursework in public health at The Institute. The MPH and MS programs build upon a rigorous core curriculum that provides an understanding of the challenges facing the U.S. health care system and a firm grounding in the skills required to evaluate and improve public health and health care. In this three year joint program, applicants may submit applications to each program at the time they are considering enrollment in either program. Also, first year students at Tuck who learn about the joint program after their arrival at Tuck may apply to the MPH or MS program.
